II Artillery Brigade’s Anniversary

The II Artillery Brigade of the Georgian Armed Forces celebrated its 5th anniversary today. Relating to the jubilee, an oath taking ceremony was held at the Khoni military base.

From now on 892 recruits continue compulsory military service in the various units of the Operative Group – West of Land Forces Command of GAF during a year. Defence Minister of Georgia Irakli Alasania congratulated them on joining the Georgian Armed Forces and wished them every success in their future work. As Defence Minister outlined, today one more part of brave patriots joined Georgian Army.

Defence Minister celebrated the jubilee of the II Artillery Brigade with artillerists. At the solemn ceremony, Defence Minister Irakli Alasania awarded Commander of the II Artillery Brigade, LTC Kakha Tabatadze with service medal “General Mazniashvili”. He got the medal for high professionalism and initiatives in planning and commanding large-scale exercises. Chief of Join Staff of GAF, Colonel Irakli Dzneladze granted medals “General Kvinitadze”, “General Mazniashvili” and “Devoted to Homeland” to 5 military servicemen of the Brigade. Deputy Chief of Joint Staff, Colonel Arsen Tsukhishvili rewarded 10 artillerists with honorary diplomas for achieving success in combat readiness and the best discipline. The “152 mm Dana” Battalion was also granted honorary board as the best artillery battalion of the Operative Group – West of 2013.

“II Artillery Brigade is a special unit. The brigade is evaluated as the most mobilized and high combat readiness unit. For this reason, Commander of the Brigade, LTC Tabatadze and the whole personnel were awarded for the special merit” – declared Defence Minister.

Relating to the event, military technique was exhibited on the base. Pupils of Khoni No1 Public School congratulated the artillerists their jubilee as well. Family members and relatives of the recruits also attended the oath taking ceremony. The solemn ceremony was completed with the concert organized by the Khoni Cultural House.
