Lisa…From Spain

(The author is a friend of a friend. I hope he doesn’t mind my sharing this noble passage.)

Rick went out again and relaxed on the hillside. He recalled Père’s gruesome story and imagined the bodies strewn all over those beautiful grounds; men his age and younger, their lives cut short, their destinies dashed. Who lay among them on either side of the line? What talent might they have possessed to benefit mankind? Did the cure for cancer rot within the dead mind of a young soldier? And what about the ordinary, those who were just people? What about them? What about the happy lives that went unlived, all the children, unborn.
